The Story of the HipKidz Games

Long ago in the time before time, when the world was young and the wise druids held the secrets of nature in their hands, the peoples of the earth lived in peace together.

Great purple dragons soared in the twilight skies while pixies and imps danced in the sunbeams in the great old forest, while the kings of the tribes held counsel and ruled wisely over men. The great king of this time was known as Nuada, a mighty warrior, a poet, and one reknowned for his wisdom and skill.

Times changed in the old world, however, and some tribes grew jealous of others. In their pride they argued and did not heed the words of the druids and the poets of their people. The world grew darker as weapons were forged in the iron pits, and kings held the names of their ancestors more dear than those of their sons.

It seemed inevitable that the discontent would end in  strife and bitter conflict, to the great sorrow of all.

The Great King, the Ard Ri, Nuada, saw the darkness stretching over the lands of the earth, so he spoke with a great voice "Do not be troubled! For we will settle our differences with tourneys and games and tests of skill and prowess, and these will be called the Hip Kidz games!" And so as he spoke, it was done, and happiness returned to all the lands once again, as the champions of the people strove to show their worth in the Games, each trying to be the best in every test put before them.

And so began the first HipKidz Games! The four champions of the tribes you see below are now your champions, each with their own strength and skill. Choose wisely!

Cormac

Young Cormac is the son of the Prince of the Romani, the seagoing people from the warmer countries in the lowlands. He has the balance and reflexes of a cat, and it is said that none could knock him from his feet.

Quick and sure and ever ready with a joke or a smile, Cormac wants to win the trophy for his father and grandfather, the great King of the Romani whose name was Lorus, so that the people would be proud and the streets of their white city would be filled with song and dancing.

Nuala

The daughter of a fearless Numidian pirate king, princess Nuala is well known not just for her fiery temper but the speed at which she can then smile and forgive. Some have been known to call her Nuala fourlegs, because of the greed speed she can run at when she has need, although they say this quietly.

Nuala wants to bring the HipKidz games trophy home to impress her father, the first of many treasures she means to bring for him to put on his pirate island, already full of gold, jewels, gems and precious things.

Aoife

One of the Fir Bolg, the mountain people, Aoife is sung of by the poets and young men for both her beauty and for the great strength she is said to have, as have all her people, the Fir Bolg of the red mountains. These great people live high among the rocky peaks of the Sighing mountains to the east as well and use the wild white snow bison as others use horses.

Aoife wishes to win the HipKidz Games trophy as a bridle piece for her favourite snow bison, Shari, and if she takes the trophy away with her, her bison will shine brighter than the stars in the sky!

Fionn (Conor Coole)

Cousin to Nuada the High King, Fionn is the most evenly blanaced of all the contestants. Where they are strong, he might not be as much, but he uses speed then. Where they are fast he uses strength, and above all else he uses his mind and intelligence to win his contests.

Nuada is from the Tuatha De Dannan people of the island of legend, and would win the trophy as part of a quest for the druids of the ancient island, to help them in their magics.
